Barack on Pakistan: "To bomb, or not to bomb!"
During the Democrat debate last week, I had originally thought that Hillary had gotten the better of Barack Obama by suggesting a more cautious approach toward the al-Quida / Pakistan conundrum.
(My gut was telling me that the standard liberal answer to any question requiring a show of strength would be to a) form a committee and discuss it, b) pose the question to our allies around the world and wait for a concensus, or c) both.)
Imagine my surprise when a Rasmussen poll of 1500 Liberal Democrats indicated by a vote of 55% to 22% that they supported Barack Obama's position to attack al-Quida positions if Pakistani President Parves Musharriff declined to act. Wow! Liberals voting to use force! That's like Mahatma Gandhi kicking the shit out of a 7-11 clerk for giving him the wrong change back for his Slurpie & Moon Pie! That must've knocked ol' Hillary on her ample, (but still presidential) butt for a few hours, right?
Here's the excerpt from Obama's speech:
- "I understand that [Pakistan President Pervez] Musharraf has his own challenges," Mr. Obama said in a speech Wednesday at the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars, in Washington, D.C. "But let me make this clear. There are terrorists holed up in those mountains who murdered 3,000 Americans. They are plotting to strike again. . . . If we have actionable intelligence about high-value terrorist targets and President Musharraf will not act, we will."
(Hey Barack! Psst, be quiet now! Keep your mouth shut and don't say anything else, and you'll pick up a lot of left-leaning conservative votes!)
B-O-I-N-K !!!!!!
A day later there's Barack first considering the use of nuclear weapons in a question from an AP reporter - then a little later on saying, not against civilians, and then later saying it would be a profound mistake to ever use nuclear weapons against al-Quida. (Ahhh shit!!!)
Well, here's his whole answer. You figure it out - frankly I'm too confused!
"I think it would be a profound mistake for us to use nuclear weapons in any circumstance," Obama said, with a pause, "involving civilians." Then he quickly added, "Let me scratch that. There's been no discussion of nuclear weapons. That's not on the table."
Just a couple small points here Barack...umm, al-Quida ain't civilians, they're terrorists, every effin one of them! They bombed our buildings in NYC, Washington and Pennsylvania - they REJOICED in killing us!
Everywhere on the "Arab Street" they were singing, dancing and passing out candy on September 11th - don't you remember?
BTW- as sure as the sun's coming up tomorrow, someone on your staff should tell you that as a successful politician you should never use terms like, "in any circumstance," or "That's not on the table," unless you absolutely - positively - know for sure that it's correct. Here's why......
Your original inclination was the right one Barack - there are al-Quida terrorists holed up in the mountains who are planning to kill us.
- Do you think that al-Quida will hesitate for a moment to use a nuclear weapon on us if they have a chance??
- Do you think that al-Quida will hesitate for a moment to use a nuclear weapon on Pakistan and say it was us?? On Iraq?? On Palestine?? On Yemen?? On Saudi Arabia?? Of course not! They want the rest of the 1.5 billion Muslims to think we are slaughtering them. They don't care if they kill a few million of their own - they figure anything for Allah is fine!
