Re: "The 535!" Correction needed.

Correction Needed!
Yesterday in my posting about Congress I guess I was getting a little "vexed" as I was writing the following paragraph.(I made a boo boo!) Here's what I wrote............
  • What about your medical coverage? Congresspersons after 8 years service, their spouses, significant others, children under the age of 22, are covered by the Federal Employee Health Benefit program. They get to choose from 19 different health care programs. Tax payers pick up about 75% of each member's tab and members get in-hospital super secure VIP treatment at Walter Reed Hospital.
The part that needs fixing? Just remove "after 8 years service," because Congresspeople are eligible for medical coverage when they are elected to Congress. (I've underlined it above and changed the color.)
What that paragraph should have said is as follows. . . .
  • What about your medical coverage? Congresspersons their spouses, significant others, children under the age of 22, are covered by the Federal Employee Health Benefit program. They get to choose from 19 different health care programs. Tax payers pick up about 75% of each member's tab and members get in-hospital super secure VIP treatment at Walter Reed Hospital. After 8 years of service as a member of Congress, health care benefits are guaranteed for life as a "retiree" from Congress, whenever the member looses their seat.
What I was trying to show was that after as little "employment" in Congress as 8 years, all members and their spouses will continue to get full medical coverage for the remainder of their lives. How many of us can say the same? And of course, retiree benefits are also paid for by tax-payers at the tune of 75%. (Hey it's only fair! They work so hard!)
Sorry for the screw up!
Ken
